In-Kind Donation Guidelines
To make the process of donating easier and for the safety and interests of our clients, we would like to provide some guidelines for providing in-kind donations to Doorways clients. Also see our needs list below!
Donation Do’s
- Do call ahead to schedule a drop off time so that a staff member can meet you at our storage facility.
- Do work with Doorways staff to determine what items Doorways in currently in need of and accepting.
- Please request and accept a donation receipt for your items.
Donation Don’ts
- Please do not drop off donations without communicating with a staff member. Donations are no longer accepted at our administrative office and need to be pre-arranged with Doorways staff.
- Please do no donate broken or soiled items.
- Please do not give items that have been recalled, banned, or do not meet current safety standards. For more information, visit the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
Doorways is always in need of the following items:
Empower Survivors of Domestic Violence and Homelessness with the power of choice! (Bold) Gift Cards from Target, Safeway, Giant, Home Depot, provide Doorways' clients with:
- Spending Flexibility
- Decision-Making Ability
- Financial Empowerment
- The Ability to Choose: New Clothing, Personal Care Products, Back to school supplies.
You can mail them to Doorways for Women and Families, P.O. Box 100185, Arlington, VA 22210, Attn: Kerry Goldstein and we will send you a receipt. Thank you for your help in this effort.

Cleaning Products: new and unopened
Bathroom Cleaning Supplies (toilet paper, Clorox, Mops, Buckets, sponges, etc)
Kitchen Cleaning Supplies (paper towels, dish soap, dishwashing liquid, trash bags, Ziploc bags, etc)
Baby Products: new and unopened
Full Size Soap/Shampoo
Diapers sizes 3-5 and Baby Wipes
Food
Canned food that has not been opened or expired
Cell Phones and PC Ink-Jet Cartridges: new and used!
Any and all cell phones and ink jet cartridges made by HP, Dell, Lexmark that can fit in the palm of your hand!

NEW! Twin Bed Linens (sheet sets, comforters)

Clothing
Due to the closing of our Thrift Shop Doorways is no longer accepting clothing items.
