What Volunteers do at Doorways
Volunteers help Doorways support and care for families in a time of crisis. Below are just a few of our current opportunities:
Shelter Volunteer: Provide direct service to shelter clients. Answer phones, provide support to individuals/families in crisis, provide information and assist staff in the day to day operations of the shelter.
Court Advocate Volunteer: Weekday volunteer position to support and accompany domestic violence clients to court and legal appointments.
Dinner with Friends Volunteer: Assist with recreational activities at monthly Dinner with Friends program for current and former clients or assist with children’s activities.
Children’s Volunteer: Assist with day time or evening child care during special events such as weekly support groups, weekly parenting classes or monthly dinner programs.
Join Community Outreach and Education Committee - Assist with the planning of our outreach events:
- Domestic Violence Awareness Month
- Emergency Family Shelter Rebuild
- Fannie Mae Help the Homeless Walkathon
Administrative Office Volunteer: Assist with special projects, answering phones, mailings and meeting preparation, trainings, and other administrative tasks as needed.
