When women and children are in crisis in Arlington, Doorways provides education and resources to help. Our staff also educates the larger community on the issues of domestic violence and homelessness.

24-Hour Hotline: Free and confidential crisis support, information and referrals are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling at (703)237-0881
Support Groups: A free and confidential Community Support Group is offered to women who are struggling with issues of domestic violence. Women get support, network, learn more about community resources and continue their journey to a self-sufficient life. Call (703)237-0881 for meeting information.
Many of the services Doorways provides extend beyond the walls of our shelters and are an integral part to families remaining self sufficient.
- Dinner with Friends: Every month, current and former shelter residents gather for Dinner with Friends, a social evening that helps current and former clients build friendships. In 2003, seventy volunteers donated over 360 hours of service to plan meals and activities for the enjoyment and enrichment of the 492 adults and children who attended the dinners.
- Back to School Supplies Drive: Beginning in June Doorways starts collecting school supplies for the children in need. For most of the children Doorways serves, changing schools is common. The simple assurance that children have the necessary school supplies helps make these transitions easier. In 2003, Doorways prepared over 80 children to succeed in school and involved the larger community through the Back to School Supplies Drive.
- Holiday Wishes: Beginning in October, Doorways pairs community sponsors with our families for the holidays. Sponsors provide food and gifts for a Doorways family, to ensure the holiday season is a time for celebration for all our neighbors. In FY 2003, 127 children from 55 families received holiday gifts and meals from Winter Wishes sponsors.
