About Us

Alanna McCargo

Alanna is the codirector of the Housing Finance Policy Center at the Urban Institute, a Washington, D.C. economic and social policy research firm. She is an active volunteer in the Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia communities and has a connection to Doorways that comes from her work on the board and as a volunteer with the Women in Housing and Finance Foundation, where she helped with fundraising and grants to Doorways for the Financial Independence Track, or FIT, our economic empowerment program. She has a strong commitment to issues related to financial literacy, economic empowerment and housing stability, and her passions directly align with Doorways’ mission.

When she’s not working on fulfilling board duties, Alanna enjoys traveling, kayaking on the Potomac, volunteering, watching football and writing.
