Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), or Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM). Each year, this month offers opportunities to raise community awareness about sexual violence and resources available to survivors. Join us throughout April by participating in our awareness days and events, sharing news and social media posts and more. To continue supporting survivors and our community education efforts all year long, join our cause.

The Facts About Sexual Assault

According to RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual assault organization,

  • Every 98 seconds, another sexual assault occurs
  • Ages 12-34 are the highest risk years for rape and sexual assault
  • 7 out of 10 rapes are committed by someone known to the victim
  • Only 344 out of every 1,000 sexual assaults are reported to police
