A Win-Win Situation
I feel that volunteering is a win-win situation; that’s why it’s so important. When I was coaching soccer I won by getting to run around and play a sport I love, the kids won by getting an awesome coach that loves the game, and the parents win by getting tired little ones once I was done with them haha.
What really spurred my move to Doorways was asking myself how I could do the most good with my time – to maximize the winning if you will. The kids at the family home have seen some heavy stuff, something that no little kid should have to deal with. Every shift my goal is to come in and help them act like carefree kids again. It’s also a great escape from the stress of acting like an adult to just let loose and be a kid again.
