About the Event

Welcome to Embrace Your Voice 2020, the sixth annual poetry share hosted in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month (SAAPM) by Doorways, Friends of Guest House, and the Alexandria Sexual Assault Center. Since we are unable to come together in person for this year’s event, we created a playlist of poems, and came together for a listening party on Denim Day, Wednesday, April 29th, 2020.

About the Writers and the Readers

Embrace Your Voice 2020 features poets from the Alexandria Sexual Assault Center, Doorways, and Friends of Guest House. Poets could choose to have their work read by a representative of one of these organizations listed above (with or without disclosing the poet’s name, according to their wishes), or they could read their own poem (with or without disclosing their name or themselves as the poet).
