Shelter and Housing

Doorways’ Safehousing provides emergency safe shelter for survivors of all genders, as well as their children and their pets. Safehousing is accessed through Doorways’ 24-hour hotline and is prioritized for Arlington County residents.

Our HomeStart Supportive Housing Program provides next-step housing and support to clients graduating from shelter.

Trauma-informed Support Services offer guidance, tools, and resources in shelter and housing. Doorways’ Community-Based Support services are also offered to clients in our shelter and housing programs.

Safehousing (Shelter)

Doorways’ provides Arlington’s only emergency shelter, called safehousing, for survivors and their families who are in imminent danger due to domestic and sexual violence. Doorways also offers a Safe Kennel for survivors’ pets.

Safehousing is accessed through Doorways’ 24-hour hotline and is prioritized for Arlington County residents.

HomeStart Supportive Housing Program

Doorways’ HomeStart Supportive Housing Program offers supportive housing for survivors and their families exiting shelter into apartments of their own.

Supportive Services

Doorways offers comprehensive support in both shelter and housing. Services include case management (goal planning, housing, financial, and employment support) and dedicated Children’s Services.

Doorways’ Community-Based Support services are also offered to clients in our shelter and housing programs.
