Careers

Doorways creates pathways out of homelessness, domestic violence, and sexual assault leading to safe, stable, and empowered lives. Our fully and dually state-accredited programs range from youth-driven prevention, aiming to make violence less likely to occur, to emergency shelter, services, and supportive housing for survivors impacted by abuse and assault.

We believe that good organizations are made up of good people, and we strive for excellence in pursuit of our mission through the values that guide our work.

Our Leadership

Our Culture and Workplace

Our workplace culture reflects our vision of safe community for all. Doorways celebrates diversity in all its forms, centering the needs and voices of the people we serve and of historically oppressed populations.

Doorways is committed to cultivating a culture that supports and affirms staff, volunteers, and clients of all races, ethnicities, sexes, genders, gender identities and expressions, sexual orientations, religions, national origins, ages, and abilities. As an organization working toward the vision of a community free from violence, Doorways opposes oppression in all its forms, including racism, sexism, and homophobia.

“I came to Doorways for the culture. It seemed like an empowering place to be. I’m glad to say that my first impression was right, and now, almost 10 years later, I’m still very grateful to be part of this team, doing this work, in this way.” —Doorways staff member

Our Values

Our values guide us in all that we do. Our staff identified Doorways’ core values as Equity, Empathy, Trauma-Informed Care, Collaboration, Empowerment, Integrity & Accountability, and Respect. Learn more about these values.

Our Trauma-Informed Approach

As a trauma-informed organization, our core value of trauma-informed care extends to our staff as well as our clients. When designing our recently opened Community Services Center, home to our staff offices and Revive counseling program, Doorways applied trauma-informed principles to create a warm, welcoming environment.

At Doorways, you will find a variety of spaces designed for individual work, private meetings, and group collaboration, as well as space like Lila’s Cafe for communal gatherings.
