General Bequest
General bequests are legacies left to Doorways that come from the general value of the donor’s estate, and are made by designating a specific dollar amount, a particular asset or a fixed percentage of the estate.
I give, devise and bequeath to Doorways for Women and Families, Inc., located at P.O. Box 100185, Arlington, Virginia, [the sum of $_______ , description of the specific asset, or percentage of the estate], for the benefit of Doorways for Women and Families, Inc., and its general purposes.
Residuary Bequest
Residuary bequests are made when a donor intends to leave the residue portion of his/her assets to Doorways after other terms of the will have been satisfied.
All the rest, residue, and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, I give to Doorways for Women and Families, Inc., for its general purposes.
Contingency Bequest
Contingency bequests allow a donor to leave a portion of his/her estate to Doorways if a named beneficiary does not survive the donor.
I devise and bequeath the residue of the property, real and personal and wherever situated, owned by me at my death, to (name of beneficiary), if she/he survives me. If (name of beneficiary) does not survive me, I devise and bequeath my residuary estate to Doorways for Women and Families, Inc., for its general purposes.
